2015 - 2016 Events
It is the vision of Caring4Katy to help as many families as possible. Our future goals include an Annual Children's Festival in Katy and the development of a "Camp Katy Cares". This camp will be a place for our families in need to take a break from the reality that they are struggling with and enjoy the time that they have together without worrying about the expense of their food, entertainment or housing for the duration of their stay. The only way to ensure that this will happen is thru community support of fundraising events such as the following:
- Katy Kids Fest
- Fun Runs
- New Year's Eve Family Celebrations
- Black Tie Gala
- Golf Tournaments
- Baseball Tournaments
- Chilli Cook-Off
- Christmas in July Event at No Label Brewery in 2015
- Christmas in July event at The Hidden Lake at Faith West in 2016
These are just a few of the upcomming events that will take place as our organization grows thru the support of our community.
New Year's Eve, 2014
Carea'belle, our Caring4Katy family and several volunteers helped host a "Count down to Noon" event at MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital in the Medical Center. We had a great time doing crafts, talking to, and enjoying the live music with all the patients and families! Carea'belle was loved by all! It was a very memorable New Year's eve spending it with the patients and their families. Thank you to all the volunteers who came to help and support and for all those who donated toward this event.
All of our Caring4Katy kids and their siblings received gifts, which were donated by so many generous people in the community. The gifts were delivered to the families and some even got a special visit from Carea'belle. We were also able to help at a Christmas event at TCH West Campus and provided Santa Claus and an elf as well as Carea'belle. Gifts were delivered to the patients and the patients and families were able to visit with and take pictures with Santa, his elf and carea'belle. The patients and families had a lovely time sharing holiday cheer.
Thanksgiving Day, 2014
The founders of Caring4Katy split forces to provide for the families at both Texas Children's Hospital in the Medical Center as well as TCH West Campus in Katy. At TCH med center, home cooked Thanksgiving meals were provided to all the families of patients in the ICU as well as the staff, in honor of Savannah Norton. At TCH Katy, Carea'belle helped to deliver desserts to the inpatient families as well as to those in the Emergency Department. Thank you to all those who donated food items to help make these events successful.
Rice Harvest Festival, 2014
Caring4Katy had a booth set up at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival. Carea'belle was there to meet everyone and take pictures. We meet several families from the community who were able to share their stories with us. We made very memorable moments as we laughed, cried, prayed and just enjoyed the experiences we were able to share with our new found friends. Thank you to everyone who came by the booth! We are looking forward to the Rice Harvest Festival for years to come.
Thanksgiving Day, 2013
The Founders of Caring4Katy joined forces and spent Thanksgiving Day serving food to the families of patients in the ICU Ward at Texas Children's Hospital located in the Medical Center. They chose to bring joy to the hearts of those in need over spending the Holiday at home with their own loved ones. This gift was in honor of Savannah Norton who spent far too many hours in the loving hands of the nurses and staff of TCH. The staff of Caring4Katy along with other volunteers were able to provide a home cooked Thanksgiving meal to over 200 people that day thanks to their combined efforts!
After losing their home to an electrical fire in 2013, Melanie and her family were overwhelmed by the love and support that they received so they decided to team up with the families of the Katy Legends 8U Baseball team to "pay it forward". Together, they were able to provide 3 families with a full Christmas dinner donated by Good Ole Boys Catering as well as over $5,000 in combined gifts, gift cards and cash. The families that were helped had children with potentially life threatening diseases. Melanie learned of these families after asking the counselor at her children's school if she knew of anyone that was in need of a little extra assistance during the holiday season. Little did she know at the time, but this simple act of kindness has led her to follow her heart and dreams by starting Caring4Katy in order to help other families in our community.
